In our early years of marriage getting a home loan was both frustrating and humorous. They’d look at us, our income, then nearly laugh us out of the bank — until my wife Laurie’s dad showed up! It’s amazing the influence a very successful businessman can have over a loan officer! All Dad had to do was co-sign and we were in without a hitch! It was Dad Wight’s influence that made the difference.
Now what chance would we have in approaching the Almighty, perfectly holy Creator of the universe with a request on our own? About the same chance a Kleenex would have in a bonfire!
So, therefore, we pray to the Father, enabled by the Spirit, in the Name of Jesus Christ! We come to the Father “in Jesus Name” because Christ is our Savior and only worthy mediator. Jesus, who has “all authority in heaven and earth” (Matthew 28:18) has access to God the Father. When we come to the Father on that basis, we have an audience with Him!
