Matthew 27:46 (NLT)
At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
A Theme to Remember:
By bearing the sins of humanity, God the Son was forsaken by God the Father as He hung on the cross. The despair He felt at that moment is unfathomable; the debt we owe Him for His sacrifice can never be repaid. All we can do is accept His gift of salvation with a grateful heart.
Words to Remember:
He suffered not as God, but he who suffered was God.
