CHRIS AND THE 350 HONDA

I believe in divine intervention, that God works the impossible — humanly speaking. I’ve seen it in my life, my marriage, in my kid’s life.

For instance, when our oldest son Chris was about three, I owned a 350 Honda single-cylinder motorcycle.

One morning I went out to start it to let it warm up. While I was in the garage getting my helmet, Chris started to climb up onto the seat (for our ride around the block — as in the picture of us on my CM400 Honda). On the way up he stepped on the gear shift lever and the motorcycle dropped into first gear!

The bike fell over on Chris with the engine racing and back wheel spinning. I ran out of the garage and lifted the bike off Chris — not a scratch, only a small speck of grease on his sleeper!

Folks, Chris was under the bike, by the back wheel which was spinning and the chain grinding away. How is it that he was not injured? How is it that the chain or spokes didn’t grab his loose little sleeper and seriously injure him?

The “Philips” among us (the disciple who tried to explain that they did not have enough fish and bread to feed the multitudes — John 6:5-6) hear this and think “It’s just luck” or “There must be some logical explanation for it.”

Well, try “logically” explaining this: There were gouges in the cement periodically along the entire length of the motorcycle — meaning that at some point the bike should have been bearing down on Chris — but it wasn’t!

If you tend to be a Philip that’s alright. We need balance, we need caution — it’s alright if you’re willing to at least be open to the possibility that God can break into our dimension of reality and do the impossible.
