A Prayer of Petition

Genesis 25:21-23 (ESV)
And Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. The children struggled together within her, and she said, “If it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the LORD.

And the LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger.”

A Theme to Remember:
God wants us to bring our petitions to Him – regardless of their size and scope. Sometimes, like with Isaac, He answers immediately; sometimes He delays until the timing is perfect; sometimes He responds by not responding. Regardless, our joyful task is to bring our needs to Him daily and to regularly seek His will.

Words to Remember:
The purpose of all prayer is to find God’s will and to make that will our prayer.
