“OGNI GIORNO PASSA UN GIORNO”

I thought that title might get your attention! These are the words of Italian dramatist Carlo Goldoni (1707-93). Translated they mean, “Each day a day goes by.” You’ve no doubt discovered time waits not for any man! In Ephesians 5:15-16, Paul writes: “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”

If you were to carve out a little time to read some of the biographies of our Founding Fathers, you would no doubt make the same discovery I did: what these men accomplished in their lifetimes is nothing short of astounding! I believe the secret was not genius as much as it was good stewardship of their time. After all, how many highly intelligent people do you know that accomplish very little with their lives? It is primarily because they are undisciplined and wasteful of their time; they procrastinate until it’s too late.

Someone has wisely said: “Tomorrow is the day when idlers work, and fools reform and mortal men lay hold on heaven.”

Folks, there might not be a tomorrow for some of us! The only certainty is that God knows our future and has graciously given us life in the present. How we manage this gift will determine the quality of both.
