I don’t even remember their names but I do remember the faces and the kindness of godly ladies in my childhood years who taught the VBS, Good News Club, and Sunday School classes I attended. They were unaware of the impact.
Besides my grandparents, these ladies-of-Jesus were the only Christian influence I had growing up. My own grandmother (Thelma McCament) was a Sunday School teacher at the Foursquare Church of Santa Ana where Pastor Chuck Smith (of Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa fame) grew up. She had the Smith boys in her class (Grandma’s picture is from that time-period)!
What about the typical Christian mom who spends herself day in and day out to love, nurture, care for her husband and kids? In I Timothy 2:9-10 Paul addresses Christian women, but the principle of what he says applies to men and women alike: “Let the emphasis of our life be `adornment’ with works glorifying to God.”
