Like most of you, I need constant reminders of God’s promise to come through for me! Patient waiting simply is not a natural strength very many of us possess. Could that be why we have so many reminders in the Bible of what God will do; so many reminders to wait for Him to intervene?
Just now I was looking at one of my favorite I wills, found in Psalm 27:13-14: “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
This passage was especially meaningful for me as I anticipated my aortic valve replacement (6/6/11). Thoughts about breathing tubes, catheters, being opened like a Thanksgiving turkey then stopping my heart to work on it — and being kept alive by a machine… it was all a bit unsettling!
Whatever your present challenge might be, remember: God will come through for you — with perfect timing! He sure did for me — after all, I’m sharing this devotional reflection eight years post-open-heart surgery!
